As a child, I was troubled by the story of Aladdin and the Lamp because when I was asked what one wish I would request of the Genie, I could only come up with: “three more wishes…”. Making choices has always been a challenge for me. I always want to know all of the options available, and then get overwhelmed by the choice. When I first discovered aromatherapy and the world of essential oils I was confused by the choices of oils and their benefits. Fortunately I was introduced to lavender early on, the most versatile of all essential oils and the one I would choose if I could only have one. You could fill a book on the many uses and benefits of lavender (and many people have). So, for those of you who are just beginning to explore essential oils, I would start with lavender. For those of you who are already lavender lovers, I have included some favorite resources to expand your appreciation and enjoyment of this extraordinary flower

INNER BEAUTY: Your Genie in a Bottle

Though many essential oils provide a range of benefits, lavender is the most versatile of all. It is often referred to as “a first aid kit in a bottle” and “the Swiss army knife” of essential oils. If your wishes include managing stress, calming anxiety, uplifting spirits, soothing pain, headache relief, relaxation, and sound sleep, lavender can help. If your wishes include antiseptic and antibacterial properties, and therapeutic skin care, lavender can provide that too. And if that isn’t enough, lavender’s lovely de-odorizing and purifying scent attracts humans and repels insects. How can an essential oil from one plant do all of this?
